Soft, oversized sculptural forms are reminiscent of cushions or modular lounging areas, covered with the colour and texture of human skin and musculature. The objects subtly contract and expand again, simulating the involuntary rhythms of living tissue – breathing, tension, relaxation. Rendered in exaggerated scale, these forms invite closeness rather than distance. They blur the boundaries between comfort and discomfort, intimacy and repulsion. Flesh becomes an architectural surface: something to lean against, sink into, or rest upon. The video follows a performer moving through dense, wild terrain, delving into the environment - searching, touching and attempting to communicate with the unseen. This act of seeking allegorizes the fragility of coexistence and the transience of interspecies relationships. Scattered across the landscape are sculptural, skin-like forms made of biomaterials, reminiscent of the remains of life forms. These organic structures point to extinct or disappearing organisms and serve as haunting markers of time and the temporality of shared time frames. The performer’s body becomes a “moving skin” that embodies the vulnerability of the present. In the interaction with the environment and the biomaterial sculptures, the video captures the tension between connection and loss, presence and absence. Moving Skins considers time, memory and transience, the fading bonds between humans and animals, and acts as a reminder of what is being lost and what could still be preserved. The inverse expression ‘not seeing the tree for the forest’ describes how the individual disappears into the web of social structures. The ambivalence of protection, which at the same time means constriction, and the attempt to escape paralysing systems form an eternal balancing act between empathy and apathy, action and standstill. The video work criticises Western societal structures that hold the individual captive in apparent powerlessness. It addresses the invisibility and overstrain of the individual in the midst of overwhelming social constructs. The performance unfolds in a forest landscape that functions both as a natural environment and as a symbol of a controlling order. &nbsp;T(W)O COEXIST is a 4-channel short film that explores the boundaries between reality, fiction and human perspective by merging fictional and real scenarios, bringing together performance, poetic narrative and human participation. The work deals with interactions and reactions of the human body to its environment, using masks as a means of reflecting and deconstructing habitual behaviour. Masks function as physical initiators to investigate automated, conditioned behaviour of the body in relation to external structures. They serve as a tool for accessing new interaction possibilities - potentials. The juxtaposition of the human body and the external organism forms the basis for this exploration. Different participants get involved in the project by choosing one of the masks and thus approaching and encountering their environment in a new way. The work aims to use a performative approach to highlight the vulnerability of both entities - the coexistence of two bodies: that of the human and that of the habitat. A scenery emerges that reveals utopian moments of nature. As remnants of prevailing behavioural and thought structures, the ceramic bodies reflect the moment of shedding socially conditioned imprints that humans - like stomatopods (mantis shrimps) when they have outgrown their skin - strive to shed. The work combines aspects of gender androgyny, media overstimulation and the occupation of human capacities with the need for collective support to shed societal conditioning that runs through generations. The work deals with interdependent relationships, interpersonal, as well as between humans and their environment and between humans and fellow creatures, and the relationship to nature, as well as with the question of the human relationship to the digital and the technological, which represent further levels of relationships. The multimedia work shows utopian moments of nature and refers to the Stomatopoda (also known as mantis shrimps) which have a highly complex visual system - four times as many visual receptors as humans and can also - perceive polarisation - the direction of oscillation of light. They therefore communicate through the reflection of polarised light, which they reflect with their bodies. Thus the work draws a parallel from this organism and its mode of perception to that of humans. It is not just about vision, but more broadly about how we see the environment, society, ourselves, our own bodies and the bodies of others. It deals with vulnerability, human potentials and the individual socially shaped ways of behaviour and perception and the breaking away of these conditionings. In addition to the aspect of visual perception, there is another: the moulting of the stomatopod. This is reflected by the ceramic bodies, which stand in the space as remnants of limitations, behavioural and thought patterns. The sound design that accompanies the performance and differs from the one that is later heard as part of the spatial installation. Both consist of recordings of body movement, breathing and points of approach and interaction between the performers. These recordings have been digitally modified and augmented with field recordings ranging from sea shells to the sounds of 3D ceramic machine printing. The result is a dynamic soundscape of almost ritualistic rhythms. From the fusion of recordings and digital modification to create pulse and rhythm, the arrangement of body and movement noises become an oscillating soundscape that deliberately blurs the boundaries The mask drifts in a strange state of gravity with an almost underwater current-like force, embodying the unpredictable and chaotic nature of individual processes. Surfaces deals with fluidity and potential and one‘s own relation to identity formation through societal imprints. Human forms and shapes appear detached yet intertwined, drawing on the tension between individuality and connectedness. The mask flies alone, suggesting the idea of liberation from boundaries of the self and the social constructions that define.
